Key Responsibilities:
- Support the management of core business activities across various model-related domains, including:
- Model Design, Development, Validation, and Implementation
- Model Portfolio, Risk Analytics, and Risk Mitigation
- Model Monitoring, Control, Standards, and Documentation
- Model Governance across HSBC Group, Policy, and Regulatory Risk
- Design and develop investment and wealth models, including:
- Executing product risk ratings for Mutual Funds, Bonds, Structured Products, and Stocks
- Designing and maintaining the Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) and Aladdin advisory models used for Advisory and Discretionary businesses
- Contributing to the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) model applications for the Global Private Banking and Wealth business
- Creating investment propositions and client capabilities to support investment frameworks, including margin trading
- Provide expertise in investment product risk by contributing to the enhancement and design of future-state methodologies for investment models
- Optimize Expected Credit Losses (ECL) and Risk Weighted Assets (RWAs) through effective modeling practices
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the Global Private Banking function to:
- Manage model risks effectively
- Expand model coverage
- Implement consistent global model systems, standards, policies, processes, methodologies, and governance across all regions
- Identify and address local regulatory issues by engaging with cross-functional and regional stakeholders, ensuring compliance with global and local model regulations
- Develop and review models based on stakeholder feedback or regulatory requirements, including:
- Preparing pre-implementation validation reports for specific countries or legal entities
- Developing models tailored to country-specific or business-specific regulatory needs
- Supporting annual model validations
- Running, monitoring, and validating model data
- Building model prototypes and conducting User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Implementing models and maintaining comprehensive documentation
- Administer global and local model governance through the Model Oversight Forum and technical committees, including:
- Supporting audit processes
- Overseeing model outputs to ensure appropriate usage
- Assisting local and global business teams in the application and interpretation of model results
- Execute model operations by:
- Running models and generating global and local outputs
- Rolling out models to new legal entities as required
- Conducting stress testing and documenting processes, calculations, and checks
- Monitoring model performance and statistically validating input data (e.g., scenario and internal loss data)
- Enhance the data infrastructure to ensure robust support for all credit modeling activities
Eligibility Criteria:
- Possess an undergraduate degree or an equivalent qualification.
- Hold an advanced degree such as a Master’s or Ph.D. (preferred).
- Have a function-specific certification or qualification, such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
- Experience in Private Banking or Wealth Modeling, with an understanding of the unique model risks specific to these domains, is advantageous.
- Familiarity with stress testing regulatory requirements and the ability to adapt them to the Private Banking context is beneficial.
- A solid understanding of investment, banking, credit, and insurance products and services is considered an asset.
- Demonstrate strong skills in presentation, interpersonal communication, negotiation, and analytical thinking.
- Possess recognized organizational skills and the ability to manage complex documentation and processes.
- Knowledge of drafting policies, setting standards, managing governance lifecycle processes, developing frameworks, and defining Target Operating Models.
- Have a good understanding of portfolio management techniques, including analytics and performance measurement.
- Proficient in coding and modeling languages such as Python, MATLAB, and Visual Basic.
