Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and underwrite credit exposures for predominantly English-speaking markets while ensuring compliance with the organization’s credit risk policies and guidelines.
- Conduct comprehensive credit analysis by assessing business performance, financial statements, industry trends, and country-specific risks to support informed credit decisions.
- Utilize internal and external credit rating models to evaluate creditworthiness and support underwriting recommendations.
- Assess the purpose and necessity of credit extensions, analyze relationship profitability, and evaluate appropriate program structures.
- Prepare accurate credit assessments and recommendations based on detailed financial and risk analysis.
- Collaborate with front office sales teams, business unit risk partners, and credit administration teams to facilitate effective credit evaluation and decision-making.
- Communicate credit findings, risk assessments, and recommendations clearly to internal stakeholders.
- Ensure timely completion of underwriting activities while maintaining high standards of accuracy, compliance, and risk management.
- Support effective portfolio risk management by identifying potential risks and recommending appropriate mitigation strategies.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with a strong academic record in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
- 0–2 years of experience in credit analysis, credit rating, or underwriting within a leading financial institution or credit rating agency.
- Progress toward the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of VBA is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in credit analysis or underwriting for commercial credit exposures ranging from small businesses and middle-market companies to large multinational organizations.
- Strong understanding of fundamental financial analysis, including the ability to interpret corporate financial statements and assess an obligor’s capacity to meet credit obligations.
- Sound knowledge of GAAP and IFRS accounting standards, corporate valuation techniques, and financial forecasting.
- Familiarity with quantitative credit risk models, such as Moody’s RiskCalc, CreditEdge, or similar tools, with the ability to interpret model outputs and justify deviations where appropriate.
- Understanding of public credit ratings and the supporting analytical methodologies.
- Knowledge of current macroeconomic trends and the ability to assess their impact on credit risk and probability of default (PD) estimations.
- Experience preparing company-specific and industry-level credit memorandums and risk assessment reports.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial and credit risk assessments clearly.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced financial environment.
