Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with large, complex datasets to solve challenging, non-routine analytical problems, applying advanced problem-solving methods as necessary.
  • Conduct analyses that include data gathering, requirements specification, processing, analysis, ongoing deliverables, and presentations.
  • Provide business recommendations (e.g., cost-benefit analysis, forecasting, experimental analysis) and effectively present findings to various stakeholders through visual displays of quantitative information.
  • Research and develop analytical methods to forecast and optimize the quality of Google’s user-facing products, including ads quality, search quality, end-user behavioral modeling, and live experiments.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and customer-facing teams to suggest, support, and shape new data-driven and privacy-preserving advertising and marketing products.
  • Explore ways to integrate large-scale experimentation, statistical-econometric techniques, machine learning, and social science methods to address business questions at scale.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Operations Research, Physics, Economics, Applied Mathematics, or a similar quantitative discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with statistical software, such as R, Python, S-Plus, SAS, or similar tools.
  • Internship or work experience involving data analysis, with expertise in quantitative methodologies, including statistics and causal inference methods.

Preferred Skills:

  • PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Operations Research, Physics, Economics, Applied Mathematics, or a similar quantitative discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in statistical data analysis techniques, including linear models, multivariate analysis, stochastic models, and sampling methods.
  • Experience applying machine learning techniques on large datasets.
  • Ability to draw meaningful conclusions from data and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Capability to teach others and learn new techniques, such as differential privacy.
  • Proficiency in selecting the appropriate statistical tools based on specific data analysis problems.
