Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate directly with other engineers on cross-functional projects.
- Provide meaningful feedback on code reviews and technical designs.
- Ensure the systems operated by your team run smoothly and are scalable to meet user needs.
- Develop the skills to manage a project from start to finish, including learning project management and technical leadership skills.
Eligibility Criteria:
- A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in computer science or a directly related field, to be obtained by summer 2025, or equivalent work experience.
- Some experience and familiarity with programming, gained through side projects or classwork. Primary languages include Java, Ruby, JavaScript, Scala, and Go, with the understanding that new programming languages can be learned if the fundamentals and general knowledge are strong.
- Experience from previous internships or collaborative work on multi-person coding projects, either in a university or professional setting.
- Ability to learn and understand unfamiliar systems through independent research, mentorship, and collaboration with subject matter experts.
Preferred skills:
- Specialized knowledge in one or more areas, balanced with general skills and understanding, such as familiarity with frontend technologies and a high-level understanding of how a service handles an HTTP request.
- Experience with code review practices and a strong understanding of how to safely update production systems.
- Familiarity with navigating and managing work in large codebases.
