Key Responsibilities:
- Refine and enhance existing video/image encoding software within the Hotstar pipeline to drive efficiency gains, improve reliability, and ensure scalability to accommodate increasing content volume.
- Apply AI/ML techniques to intelligently optimize encoding processes and develop automated quality control tools focusing on both source content and final streams.
- Collaborate with product teams to execute the technical implementation of new media features, ensuring alignment with the overall platform architecture.
- Explore upcoming video technologies, evaluating their potential benefits for Hotstar, and preparing proof-of-concepts or demos as necessary.
- Contribute to the maintenance of quality assurance systems, assisting in issue troubleshooting, and suggesting improvements to existing processes.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers on best practices.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Proficiency in C++ or Java and object-oriented programming.
- Thorough understanding of audio and video compression and processing, encompassing video codec standards like H.264/AVC, HEVC, and AV1, as well as audio codecs such as AAC, HE-AAC, EAC-3, and Dolby Atmos.
- Robust background in image and signal processing, including algorithm design and implementation, covering tasks like image scaling, deinterlacing, frame rate conversion, and artifact detection.
- Experience working with large-scale distributed systems and cloud computing environments.
- Familiarity with open-source multimedia projects such as ffmpeg, x264, avisynth, and webm.
- Exposure to machine learning applications in video processing.
- Proficiency in media packaging formats like HLS, DASH, and encryption methods.
- Understanding of CDN architectures and delivery mechanisms.
