Role Responsibilities:
- Participate in the Summer Internship Program as part of the University Relations Program and gain practical industry experience in a research-driven environment.
- Contribute to ongoing research and development projects at IBM Research India under the guidance of experienced mentors.
- Apply technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to address real-world challenges and develop innovative solutions.
- Work on one or more research areas across the AI domain, including large language models (LLMs), agentic systems, AI accelerator software, data and AI, and programmable language models.
- Contribute to the development and scaling of large language models and explore innovative approaches to AI model development.
- Develop and enhance agentic systems that leverage small language models for efficient and intelligent task execution.
- Contribute to the auto-evolution of AI agents, including testing, debugging, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the development of software stacks for AI accelerator cards and explore technologies that enhance AI computing capabilities.
- Explore the intersection of data and artificial intelligence to develop scalable and data-driven AI solutions.
- Research and contribute to the development of programmable language models and emerging AI technologies.
- Collaborate with mentors and research teams to investigate complex technical problems, develop solutions, and evaluate experimental results.
- Demonstrate strong technical curiosity, creativity, and analytical thinking while contributing to cutting-edge AI research and development.
- Gain exposure to advanced technologies, research methodologies, and industry practices while developing skills relevant to future career opportunities.
Eligibility Criteria:
- B.E. / B.Tech degree.
- M.E. / M.Tech degree, including Dual Degree programs.
- Ph.D. degree.
- Minimum 70% marks or 7.0 CGPA and above in the pursuing degree.
Required Skills:
- Strong programming fundamentals in Python.
- Solid understanding of Machine Learning and Deep Learning concepts.
- Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI, Transformers, and Natural Language Processing (NLP).
- Hands-on experience with development tools such as VS Code, Jupyter Notebooks, and Git.
- Exposure to AI Accelerator software stacks and related technologies.
- Proficiency in AI and Machine Learning frameworks, particularly PyTorch.
- Exposure to AI agents, tool usage, function calling, and reasoning models.
- Familiarity with techniques such as LoRA/PEFT, knowledge distillation, reinforcement learning, RLHF, or RLAIF is desirable.
- Ability to read, understand, and critically analyze research papers, with experience implementing research ideas being highly desirable.
- Ability to reproduce research results and design controlled experiments to evaluate models and approaches.
- Familiarity with linear algebra, probability, statistics, and fundamental concepts related to Large Language Models.
- Exposure to popular reinforcement learning libraries and hands-on experience with reinforcement learning training.
- Hands-on experience with Git and containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
- Exposure to Triton and Hugging Face technologies.
- Familiarity with AI Accelerator architectures, NCCL, and compiler technologies.
Preferred Skills:
- Exposure to popular reinforcement learning libraries and hands-on experience with reinforcement learning training.
- Strong understanding of linear algebra, probability, statistics, and fundamental Large Language Model concepts.
- Hands-on experience with Git and containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
- Exposure to Triton and Hugging Face technologies.
- Exposure to AI Accelerator software stacks and familiarity with AI Accelerator architectures.
- Familiarity with NCCL and compiler technologies relevant to AI and Machine Learning workloads.
