Key Responsibilities:
- Support the design, development, and deployment of data science solutions to help achieve IWPB business objectives under the guidance of senior team members.
- Assist in building, validating, and maintaining machine learning models while learning best practices for model lifecycle management.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and help translate them into analytical solutions with mentorship from experienced team members.
- Participate in project activities such as data extraction, data cleaning, and basic analysis, progressively developing the capability to manage tasks independently.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business, technology, and operations, to ensure alignment and timely delivery of project milestones.
- Prepare and present insights, findings, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint, incorporating feedback from team members.
- Apply foundational analytics and statistical techniques to solve business problems, while gaining exposure to more advanced methodologies.
- Utilize tools and programming languages such as SQL, Python, and SAS for data manipulation and analysis, with training support as required.
- Gain exposure to cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform for scalable data processing and model deployment.
- Stay updated with the latest trends in data science, machine learning, and generative AI, and proactively seek opportunities to learn and apply new techniques.
- Contribute to fostering a culture of continuous learning and upskilling within the team.
- Ensure all work complies with HSBC’s data governance, privacy, and regulatory standards.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Academic exposure to data analysis, statistics, or machine learning through coursework, projects, internships, or certifications.
- Basic knowledge of programming languages such as Python, SQL, or SAS, along with a willingness to continuously learn and enhance technical skills.
- Familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint for data analysis and presentations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and derive meaningful insights.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in a clear and simple manner to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute effectively toward achieving shared objectives.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for continuous learning and professional development.
- Interest in the banking and financial services domain will be considered an advantage.
- Exposure to data visualization tools such as Tableau or Microsoft Power BI, or cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform, will be an added advantage but is not mandatory.
- Keen interest in generative AI and related technologies is desirable.
