Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with fellow data scientists and cross-functional stakeholders, including IT, Data Engineering, and business teams, to design and deliver high-quality analytical and machine learning models.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data across United’s operational domains to generate fact-based, data-driven recommendations.
- Develop and implement solutions to business problems using data analysis, machine learning, and optimization techniques.
- Enable and manage data transfers across platforms, and monitor model performance to support scalable and reliable deployments.
- Research emerging machine learning methodologies and technologies, and share knowledge and best practices across the team.
- Clearly structure and communicate insights from multiple workstreams through professional presentations and reports to team members, leaders, and managers.
- Partner with data engineering and operations teams to support business stakeholders with regular project updates and operational insights.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.
- 0 to 3 years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with complex datasets.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, along with strong skills in SQL, Excel, and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Intermediate understanding of machine learning techniques, including bagging methods (Decision Trees, Random Forest), boosting algorithms (XGBoost, Gradient Boosting), and clustering techniques (K-Means).
- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and comfort working with very large and complex datasets.
- Solid understanding of probability and statistical concepts.
- Ability to connect business context with technical solutions, and clearly explain statistical and machine learning concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with a team-oriented mindset.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of deep learning and neural network architectures, with exposure to Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Computer Vision (CV).
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
