Key Responsibilities:
- Leverage an analytical mindset to identify and develop solutions for complex business problems in a hands-on role.
- Understand challenging business problems and prototype solutions with minimal support.
- Apply, modify, and design algorithms and mathematical models to address business challenges using big data architectures such as Hadoop and Spark.
- Validate, document, and present the modeling processes and performance results.
- Communicate complex solutions clearly and effectively to non-expert stakeholders.
- Promote data science practices across Tesco and represent Tesco within the wider external data science community.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Demonstrated expertise in statistics, programming, and machine learning.
- Extensive background in machine learning and data mining.
- Proven track record of modifying and designing advanced algorithms and applying them to large data sets.
- Strong scientific mindset with the ability to ask relevant questions and develop appropriate solutions.
- A strong numerical higher degree in mathematics, science, engineering, or computer science is preferred.
- Solid understanding of mathematical and statistical principles.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: predictive modelling, operational research, deep learning, or time series modelling.
- Strong programming skills, with proficiency in Python preferred.
