Key Responsibilities:
Database Administration
- Install, configure, and upgrade PostgreSQL database instances.
- Manage and maintain PostgreSQL databases across production, development, and testing environments.
Advanced Query Optimization
- Develop and optimize complex PostgreSQL queries, functions, and triggers for enhanced performance.
- Utilize PostgreSQL-specific features such as Common Table Expressions (CTEs), window functions, and JSONB for efficient data processing.
Performance Tuning and Monitoring
- Monitor database performance and health using tools like pgAdmin,
pg_stat_activity, and other diagnostic utilities. - Fine-tune PostgreSQL configuration parameters (e.g.,
shared_buffers,work_mem) to improve system performance.
Replication and High Availability
- Configure and manage PostgreSQL replication setups, including streaming replication.
- Implement and maintain high availability solutions using tools like Patroni or pgpool-II.
Data Security and Compliance
- Manage user roles, permissions, and access control lists (ACLs) to ensure secure access.
- Implement data encryption solutions for both data in transit and at rest to maintain compliance and security.
Backup and Disaster Recovery
- Design and automate backup strategies using tools such as
pg_dumpandpg_basebackup. - Develop and test disaster recovery procedures to ensure minimal downtime and data loss.
Database Migration and Upgrades
- Manage database migrations from systems like MySQL or Oracle to PostgreSQL.
- Perform PostgreSQL version upgrades while ensuring data integrity and minimal disruption.
Documentation and Training
- Maintain thorough documentation of database architecture, configurations, and operational processes.
- Provide training and share best practices with development and operations teams.
Troubleshooting
- Investigate and resolve database-related issues, including deadlocks, performance bottlenecks, crashes, and replication delays.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in the telecom domain is a plus, but not mandatory.
- Expertise in SQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
- Proficient in working with ClickHouse for high-performance analytical queries.
- Skilled in scripting languages such as Python, Java, and C#.
- Hands-on experience with database management tools, especially pgAdmin.
