Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with extensive and intricate data sets to tackle challenging non-routine analysis problems, employing advanced problem-solving techniques as necessary.
- Perform comprehensive analysis involving data collection, requirements specification, processing, ongoing deliverables, and presentations.
- Formulate business recommendations, such as cost-benefit analyses, forecasting, and experiment analysis, presenting findings effectively to stakeholders at various levels through visual representations of quantitative data.
- Research and devise analyses, forecasts, and optimization methods to enhance the quality of Google’s user-facing products, including ads quality, search quality, end-user behavioral modeling, and live experiments.
- Assist in proposing, supporting, and shaping innovative data-driven and privacy-preserving advertising and marketing products, collaborating with engineering, product, and customer-facing teams.
- Explore methods to integrate large-scale experimentation, statistical-econometric techniques, machine learning, and social science methods to address business inquiries on a broad scale.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Possession of a Master’s degree or PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Operations Research, Physics, Economics, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Previous internship or work experience involving data analysis.
- Proficiency in quantitative methodologies, particularly in statistics and causal inference methods.
- Familiarity with statistical software such as R, Python, S-Plus, SAS, or similar tools.
Preferred skills:
- Proficiency in statistical data analysis, encompassing linear models, multivariate analysis, stochastic models, and sampling methods.
- Hands-on experience with machine learning techniques applied to large datasets.
- Capability to derive insights from data and provide actionable recommendations.
- Aptitude for both teaching others and acquiring new techniques, including but not limited to, differential privacy.
- Skill in selecting appropriate statistical tools to address specific data analysis challenges.
