Key Responsibilities:
- Participates in client/project meetings to conduct needs assessments and review designs. Analyzes user needs and requirements for both existing and proposed database systems, developing technical, structural, and organizational specifications. These specifications cover various aspects such as access methods, access time, job control language, statistical methodologies, device allocation, validation checks, and security measures.
- Designs, develops, implements, and maintains moderately complex databases for both internal and external users/clients.
- Establishes, documents, and implements standards and modeling techniques to monitor and improve database capacity and performance. Additionally, programs and writes code as needed, creates data import/export routines to automate data loading, and constructs windows, screens, and reports.
- Conducts analyses and reviews of complex applications set for production release. Develops test application code within client-server environments to ensure software compliance with established build management practices.
- Designs back-up and recovery procedures along with data archive/purge procedures. Prepares relevant technical documentation to support these processes.
- Stays current with new and emerging technologies and tools, analyzing their relevance to the field. Produces reports and recommendations regarding new processes or products.
- Provides leadership and guidance to less experienced staff members.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, business administration, software engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Have six or more years of experience in database engineering and development.
- Demonstrate proficiency in relational data modeling.
- Exhibit experience in data warehousing practices.
- Possess hands-on experience with relational databases like SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle, etc.
- Show proficiency in database development methodologies, including design and implementation techniques.
Preferred skills:
- Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Possess effective communication skills.
- Exhibit proficiency in personal computer and business solutions software.
- Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing a Windows development language, programming, or scripting languages like VBScript, COM, COM+, XML, Java, Perl, etc.
- Display strong interpersonal and human relations skills to engage with clients and less experienced personnel.
- Ability to understand and incorporate business unit/client requirements into suitable database systems.
