Key Responsibilities:
- Develop functional test strategies, plans, and execute tests, including automation suite, for platform-independent current and next-generation packet software across CIENA’s networking products.
- Conduct continuous research to ensure software features meet established standards and product functional requirements.
- Execute and automate functional test plans, drive feature test-plan authoring, design test beds, set up complex test beds based on project requirements, and assist in product defect diagnosis/debugging.
- Develop Python scripts for automated testing and report test results using Quality Center (QC).
- Collaborate closely with engineers across teams and geographies to ensure quality for the features.
- Host and participate in test plan and functional specification (FS) reviews for assigned features, providing insightful comments.
- Develop comprehensive test cases, extending beyond FS descriptions, to cover compliancy to commercial specs and RFCs, potential interactions with other features, and complex scenarios.
- Demonstrate troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, understanding the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Manage feature and schedule churns with minimal guidance, contributing to team deliverables through involvement in agile scrum development sprints.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Over 1 year of testing experience.
- Proficiency in Python/Tcl/Expect is essential.
- Fluency and practical experience in data communication systems, networking, and Ethernet switches.
- Hands-on experience with L2/L3 topologies.
- Robust testing expertise in Layer-2/Layer-3 and OAM protocols, including BGP, IS-IS, BFD, QoS, HEQoS, EQoS, SAT, TWAMP, MPLS, Segment Routing, VPLS, VPWS, EVPN.
- Familiarity with traffic generators such as Ixia and Spirent.
Preferred skills:
- Proficient understanding of network design and deployment scenarios in Carrier/Metro Ethernet Space is advantageous.
- Exposure to Netconf/GNMI/Telemetry is a valuable asset.
