Key Responsibilities:
- Perform statistical analyses to identify and understand risk and fraud behaviors, contributing to the development of fraud detection features and models.
- Develop, implement, and maintain fraud rules in response to emerging and evolving fraudulent behaviors.
- Analyze large datasets to extract insights and formulate effective strategies for fraud prevention and mitigation.
- Gain deep understanding of risk-related data, reporting mechanisms, and key performance metrics.
- Design and conduct experiments to evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of risk mitigation solutions and related products.
- Collaborate with global stakeholders—including product, engineering, community operations, and data science teams—on projects focused on risk and fraud mitigation.
- Communicate insights and findings clearly to management to support data-driven business decisions.
- Work under managerial guidance to define and grow expertise in specific risk-related domains.
- Participate in ongoing training programs, functional business reviews, and company-wide meetings.
- Maintain high levels of engagement and adaptability in Uber’s fast-paced and dynamic risk management environment.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a data-focused role such as product analytics, business analytics, business operations, or data science.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Operational Research, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to apply analytical and statistical methods to solve real-world problems using large datasets.
- Strong creative problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, with a proactive and results-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.
- Hands-on experience with Python for data analysis or automation tasks.
- At least 1 year of experience in product improvement, analyzing user journeys, and deriving actionable insights from data.
- Good understanding of experimental design and statistical techniques for exploratory data analysis.
- Experience in creating dashboards and data visualizations using tools such as Google Data Studio, Tableau, Mixpanel, Looker, or similar platforms.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong aptitude for data storytelling and conducting root cause analysis through data.
Preferred Skills:
- Prior experience in risk, fraud, or payments domains is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with experimentation methods, A/B testing, and statistical modeling is a plus.
- Additional experience with Python or R is preferred.
