Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain data-driven consumer risk management solutions for PayPal. Makes sound decisions while keeping risk, user experience, and financial performance in mind.
- Identify and address problems and issues in the normal course of work, and respond quickly to risk mitigation needs to solve problems.
- Create and automate tracking functionality for tracking volume and solution efficacy. Evaluate and communicate the performance of solutions to management on a regular basis.
- Use your discretion when selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results on business-critical issues.
- Look for opportunities for improvement and innovation that have a business impact. Make available a source of high-quality ideas.
- Identify opportunities and gaps in PayPal’s current Fraud Risk control portfolio, including continuously evolving fraud trends.
- Formulate and propose solutions to achieve the best possible balance of user experience, business enablement, operational expense, and loss exposure.
- Communicate concise and actionable business strategies, and present new strategy recommendations for approval to senior management.
- Monitor and optimise the performance of existing and new solutions to achieve the desired results.
- Collaboration with partners in Risk Platform, Data Sciences, Operations, Product Management, Legal & Compliance, and other teams is required to develop and implement fraud risk solutions.
- Collaborate with outside partners, such as credit/banking partners and data vendors.
- Create automated systems/processes and algorithms to streamline the strategy/solution development process and generate good business results.
Eligibility Criteria:
- A bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, operations research, finance, economics, or a quantitatively related discipline is required.
- 2-5 years of demonstrated credit or fraud risk analytics experience, or the equivalent.
- Must be an analytical thinker who is intuitive and organised, with the ability to perform detailed analysis; strong in analytics and problem solving. experienced with predicative modelling, data mining and analytical tool. SQL, SAS, Python, Unix, R, and other programming languages are required.
- Proven track record of using analytics solutions to solve real-world problems.
- Excellent business sense and logical reasoning. Capability to synthesise information and generalise patterns.
- Proven ability to work proficiently on well-defined projects; primary focus is on how to achieve overall project business objectives with speed and quality.
- Interpersonal skills that are effective. Maintain key partner relationships. Capable of effectively collaborating with remote teams.
- Capable of presenting – can communicate effectively in large or small groups.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to explain and/or present analysis, are required.
- Capability to manage a large and diverse set of tasks – Prioritize, keep track of multiple workstreams, and track progress.
- Ability to collaborate with leadership and stakeholders to define project scope and direction, as well as drive large portions of the work independently.
- Experience working with cross-functional, geographically dispersed teams, as well as managing by influence, is preferred.
