Key Responsibilities:
- Actively contribute as a member of the assigned team by participating in team discussions, decision-making, and technical design processes.
- Develop production-ready software that delivers meaningful value to Stripe’s business and users.
- Provide and receive constructive technical feedback through code reviews and design discussions.
- Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to proactively seek, evaluate, and incorporate feedback.
- Learn quickly by asking thoughtful questions, working effectively with the intern manager and team members, communicating work progress clearly, and leveraging the latest AI tools and technologies.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline, with a strong foundational understanding of computer science concepts.
- Experience with programming through academic coursework, personal projects, or other practical development activities. Familiarity with languages such as Ruby, Java, JavaScript, Go, or Scala is preferred, with the ability to learn new programming languages based on strong programming fundamentals.
- Experience through previous internships, academic projects, or collaborative projects, including open-source contributions, demonstrating the ability to give and receive feedback from mentors, peers, and stakeholders.
- Ability to learn and understand unfamiliar systems through independent research, collaboration with mentors, and guidance from subject matter experts.
- Ability to use AI tools to accelerate software development while applying critical thinking and professional judgment to review, refine, and validate AI-generated outputs.
Preferred Skills:
- At least one year of university education or equivalent practical work experience.
- Specialized knowledge in one or more areas, such as front-end development, back-end development, infrastructure, or other relevant technologies, along with broad technical skills and knowledge.
- Experience creating high-quality pull requests with appropriate test coverage and the ability to complete projects with minimal defects.
- Familiarity with navigating and working within new codebases that use multiple programming languages.
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical work to stakeholders, team members, and other colleagues.
