Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute data validation queries to compare source systems (Yellowbricks/Informatica outputs) with target systems (Databricks/Snowflake/dbt outputs).
  • Perform row count validations between source and target tables to ensure data completeness.
  • Conduct aggregate validations, including sums, counts, averages, distinct counts, and min/max checks.
  • Carry out sample-based and cell-level comparisons for critical data entities and fields.
  • Validate schema consistency by verifying data types, field lengths, precision/scale, nullable attributes, and constraints.
  • Identify and log discrepancies, analyze data patterns, and collaborate with developers to support root cause analysis.
  • Understand Informatica mappings, workflows, and their expected outputs for accurate validation.
  • Validate dbt models (staging, core, and marts) on Snowflake against legacy Informatica outputs.
  • Test Databricks notebooks and jobs to ensure accurate replication of Yellowbricks logic, including transformations, joins, filters, and aggregations.
  • Validate Change Data Capture (CDC) and incremental data loads, ensuring correct handling of new, updated, and deleted records.
  • Execute functional testing to verify correct implementation of business rules post-migration.
  • Perform regression testing during each migration phase to ensure previously validated data and workflows remain consistent.
  • Support end-to-end integration testing across systems, including Source to Databricks/Snowflake and dbt to downstream reporting layers.
  • Validate downstream outputs such as reports, extracts, and interfaces consuming migrated data (as applicable).
  • Assist in basic performance testing by comparing query and job runtimes against baseline benchmarks.
  • Monitor data pipelines for job failures, retries, and anomalies in data volumes.
  • Execute test cases, document results, and maintain traceability aligned with business and technical requirements.
  • Log defects with clear reproduction steps, supporting data samples, and evidence (e.g., screenshots, SQL queries) in defect tracking tools such as JIRA or Azure DevOps.
  • Retest resolved defects and support regression testing cycles.
  • Maintain test repositories, test datasets, and execution logs for audit, reuse, and compliance purposes.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups and defect triage discussions with onshore and offshore teams.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Possess 2–4 years of experience in Software Testing/Quality Assurance, including at least 2+ years of experience in Data Warehouse and ETL testing.
  • Have practical experience in data migration or data platform modernization projects (highly preferred).

Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrate strong SQL proficiency, with the ability to write complex queries involving joins, aggregations, window functions, and filters.
  • Have hands-on experience working with at least one data platform, such as Snowflake, Databricks, or other cloud-based data warehouse/big data platforms (experience with Snowflake/Databricks is an advantage).
  • Possess working knowledge of Informatica, including an understanding of mappings, workflows, and expected outputs.
  • Show exposure to dbt or willingness to learn dbt-based validations, including model outputs and test results.
  • Exhibit a strong understanding of data warehouse concepts, including fact and dimension tables, Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCDs), data aggregation, data grain, and source-to-target mapping.
  • Be familiar with test management and defect tracking tools such as Azure DevOps, JIRA, TestRail, or qTest.
  • Have experience using Excel or similar tools for managing validation results and reconciliation artifacts.

Soft Skills:

  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and a structured, methodical approach to data validation.
  • Possess the ability to analyze data discrepancies and effectively collaborate with developers to identify and resolve issues.
