Key Responsibilities:
Transportation Planning and Execution:
- Collaborate with distribution centers and merchandising teams to plan and coordinate transportation activities from vendors to retail stores.
- Oversee the execution of transportation plans to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.
- Monitor shipment movement through effective and continuous track-and-trace processes.
- Support the execution and monitoring of the complete order fulfillment process, from order confirmation to shipment for home delivery.
- Coordinate distribution center appointments and manage yard scheduling activities.
- Manage ship-to-home operations and ensure compliance with club store delivery requirements.
- Handle shipment exceptions, EDI communications, and issue resolution within the Transport Management System (TMS).
Route Optimization:
- Analyze transportation routes and delivery schedules to identify opportunities for optimization.
- Collaborate with carriers and logistics partners to streamline routes, reduce transit time, and minimize transportation costs.
Carrier Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with transportation carriers and logistics service providers.
- Support the preparation of RFPs and assist in negotiating contracts, freight rates, and service level agreements to ensure reliable and cost-effective transportation services.
Compliance and Regulations:
- Ensure adherence to transportation regulations, safety standards, and industry compliance requirements.
- Stay updated with changes in transportation laws and implement necessary operational adjustments.
Vendor Collaboration:
- Work closely with external vendors and transportation providers to resolve operational issues, track shipments, and enhance service performance.
- Collaborate with vendors, distribution centers, and retail stores to implement best practices for efficient transportation operations.
Operational Efficiency:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance transportation efficiency and operational effectiveness.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate operational performance and identify improvement opportunities.
Documentation and Recordkeeping:
- Ensure the accurate and timely completion of transportation documentation, including bills of lading, shipping manifests, and delivery confirmations.
- Investigate detention charges, accessorial fees, and other transportation-related discrepancies.
- Maintain organized records for auditing, reporting, and compliance purposes.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including supply chain, logistics, and warehouse teams, to ensure smooth coordination of transportation activities.
- Provide operational support to teams involved in the end-to-end supply chain process.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare regular reports on transportation performance, operational costs, and key logistics metrics.
- Analyze transportation data to identify trends, operational challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support the optimization of freight terms based on operational insights.
Vendor Chargeback Management:
- Manage vendor onboarding processes related to logistics and chargeback procedures.
- Administer distribution center-only chargeback triggers, including both manual and automated triggers.
- Apply invoice deductions based on vendor invoicing notes and chargeback policies.
- Receive and review vendor disputes related to chargebacks.
- Investigate and resolve disputes escalated by the finance team.
- Generate and share bi-weekly chargeback reports with relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct vendor performance reviews to improve compliance and service quality.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in transportation operations, particularly in distribution center-to-retail store logistics.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in the USA or North American retail logistics environment.
- Strong understanding of transportation regulations and industry best practices.
- Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and other logistics-related software tools.
- Ability to analyze operational data and make informed decisions to optimize transportation performance.
- Leadership and team management experience will be considered an added advantage.
