Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to define user requirements for new features and identify dependencies while contributing to the development of design documents for highly available, globally distributed services.
- Develop and implement code for products, services, or features, leveraging reusable components to address complex engineering challenges related to data management, performance, durability, scalability, security, and resiliency.
- Work closely with engineers across Azure to deliver seamless data resiliency integrations and continuously enhance system reliability, cost efficiency, and overall customer experience.
- Serve as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) to monitor systems, product features, or services for issues such as degradation, downtime, or interruptions, and recommend corrective actions by following established playbooks.
- Stay updated with the latest developments and proactively acquire new knowledge to improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while ensuring consistency in large-scale monitoring and operations.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, with proven experience in programming using languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming or managed code (e.g., C#, Java, C++, Go, or similar).
- Minimum of 1 year of professional software engineering experience in designing, building, and testing services or large-scale systems.
Other Requirements:
- Must be able to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements applicable to this role.
- Successful completion of the Microsoft Cloud Background Check is mandatory upon hire or transfer and must be renewed every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with at least 1 year of engineering experience in coding using languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python; OR
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with proven programming experience in the same.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in designing, building, and testing services or large-scale systems using object-oriented programming or managed code (e.g., C#, Java, C++, Go, or similar).
- Hands-on experience with cloud services or distributed computing environments.
- Familiarity with REST-based service design and integrations across complex ecosystems.
- At least 1 year of experience in live-site operations, including incident response and system reliability management.
