Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the Building Automation Sales Group as a Solutions Designer, focusing on Building Automation Systems (BAS) that control key building components like HVAC.
- Complete sales estimates for the sales team, covering project take-offs, specification interpretation, scope of work creation, and risk analysis.
- Deliver final cost estimates and proposals as primary outputs.
- Enable the Sales Executive to improve customer prospecting, enhance engagement, and prioritize bidding strategies.
- Lead and coordinate the creation of timely cost estimates and proposals, with responsibilities including:
- Performing take-offs to quantify equipment and device counts from bid documents.
- Interpreting sequences of operations to determine point counts, materials, and necessary control devices.
- Reviewing specifications to account for labor requirements and code compliance.
- Understanding Master Format Specifications and identifying requirements for third-party integrations.
- Creating system network riser diagrams.
- Developing the Bill of Material (BOM) and Scope of Work (SOW).
- Preparing subcontractor technical bid packages and coordinating strategy with the Procurement team and Sales Executive.
- Obtaining quotes from external vendors for additional products and services.
- Crafting final customer proposals.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with a remote sales and operations team across different time zones.
- Utilize company-specific design, bid, and quote tools efficiently.
- Support the sales team by addressing technical and pricing questions.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for all estimation work, facilitating a smooth handover process when an estimate or proposal is converted into an order.
- Participate in cost review and technical handover meetings with the operations team.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required.
- Experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS) is preferred, with demonstrated competencies in BAS components, including controllers, sensors, output devices, communication protocols, and user interfaces.
Preferred skills:
- Knowledge of engineering fundamentals, HVAC systems, and mechanical systems is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and building automation bid specifications is preferred.
- Understanding of buildings and the ability to identify HVAC system equipment that requires automation is preferred.
- Experience with Estimating/Quoting systems is desirable.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations is preferred.
- Familiarity with the building construction process is preferred.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Fluency in French is required for those assigned to support Quebec.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to interpret customer requirements, identify needs, and resolve issues positively.
- Capable of adapting to shifting demands and competing priorities from customers and internal partners, effectively managing time and meeting established deadlines.
