Key Responsibilities:
Backend and Microservices Development:
- Design, develop, and test microservices and RESTful APIs using Core Java (Java 11/17 or later) and the Spring Boot framework.
- Apply clean code practices, SOLID design principles, and enterprise design patterns to build maintainable and scalable applications.
- Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate backend APIs with user interface components built using Angular.
Database Management and PostgreSQL:
- Write efficient SQL queries, perform database joins, and manage database migrations for PostgreSQL.
- Apply query optimization techniques, understand database indexing, prevent N+1 query issues in Hibernate and Spring Data JPA, and implement batch-processing operations.
- Work with high-volume datasets in an enterprise production environment.
Messaging and Event-Driven Architecture:
- Develop basic producers and consumers using Apache Kafka or similar messaging systems to support asynchronous event processing.
- Understand and implement appropriate approaches to distributed transactions, retry mechanisms, and error handling in event-driven systems.
Code Quality, Testing, and AI-Assisted Development:
- Actively participate in GitHub pull request (PR) reviews by reviewing peers’ code, incorporating constructive feedback from lead engineers, and understanding the design and business rationale behind code changes.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, to improve productivity while ensuring that generated code is secure, maintainable, and free of errors.
- Develop and execute comprehensive unit and integration tests using JUnit and Mockito to maintain high code quality and adequate test coverage.
Eligibility Criteria:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field is required.
Preferred skills:
- Experience: 0-2 years of professional software development experience, or demonstrable project or internship experience in backend software engineering.
- Core Java: Strong understanding of Core Java fundamentals, including object-oriented programming (OOP), the Collections Framework, exception handling, concurrency, multithreading, and Java 8+ Streams and Lambda expressions.
- Spring Boot: Hands-on experience in developing RESTful APIs using Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA, and dependency injection.
- Database and SQL: Solid working knowledge of relational databases and SQL, preferably PostgreSQL or MySQL, with the ability to write structured queries, joins, and GROUP BY statements, and understand primary keys, foreign keys, and basic indexing.
- Basic Messaging Knowledge: Foundational knowledge of messaging systems such as Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ, gained through conceptual understanding or practical project experience.
- Version Control: Familiarity with Git and GitHub, including cloning repositories, creating branches, committing changes, and submitting pull requests.
- Testing Mindset: Familiarity with writing and executing unit tests using JUnit and Mockito.
