Key Responsibilities:
Business Analysis for Investment Banking Data Products:
- Act as the primary Business Analyst supporting the development, enhancement, and maintenance of investment banking data products and financial data assets.
- Gather, analyze, and document business requirements from stakeholders across Finance, Product Control, Middle Office, and Front Office functions.
- Translate business needs and accounting rules into clear functional requirements for data pipelines, reporting systems, and analytical platforms.
- Develop and maintain data dictionaries, data lineage documentation, validation rules, and data control frameworks to ensure data integrity and governance.
Finance and Accounting Expertise:
- Apply strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, and product-level accounting for investment banking products such as derivatives, fixed income, equities, and structured products.
- Support the design and implementation of data models related to profit and loss (P&L), balance sheets, trade lifecycle, valuations, and key financial metrics.
- Collaborate with Finance stakeholders to ensure accurate representation of accounting and financial concepts within data platforms and reporting systems.
Data Analysis and Technical Enablement:
- Extract, analyze, and validate large datasets using advanced SQL to support business requirements, perform reconciliations, identify data quality issues, and resolve discrepancies.
- Utilize Python and/or VBA to develop prototypes, automate recurring data analysis tasks, and support data validation and control processes.
- Work closely with data engineering teams to ensure accurate data sourcing, transformation, validation, and implementation of data quality controls.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with Technology, Data Engineering, Finance, Risk, and Operations teams to ensure successful end-to-end project execution.
- Participate in solution design, user acceptance testing (UAT), and production deployment support for new data products and system enhancements.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on finance and accounting concepts during the development and implementation of data products.
