Key Responsibilities:
- Work as an intern within a sub-team of the Product Engineering support team for z Hardware or the z/OS support team, supporting the service structure and serviceability of the mainframe product set.
- Assist in designing and executing productivity tools and aids required for the mainframe support infrastructure.
- Utilize basic programming skills and engineering concepts to contribute effectively to assigned tasks.
- Apply Computer Science skills (highly preferred) or Electrical Engineering knowledge (also beneficial) in day-to-day responsibilities.
- Gain firsthand exposure to mainframe customer expectations from IBM and understand the technical complexity of mainframe systems.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Bachelor’s Degree
Required Technical and Professional Expertise:
- Strong passion to pursue a career in Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
- Fundamental education in software design and/or software testing.
- Basic understanding of computer architecture concepts.
- Knowledge of at least one programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Assembly.
- Good debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Scripting knowledge in languages such as Python, JavaScript, Perl, Bash, or similar.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience:
- Knowledge of mainframe systems and technologies.
- Understanding of computer networking concepts.
- Familiarity with web and mobile application development.
- Experience using development tools such as Git/GitHub, IntelliJ, or similar.
