Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research in natural language processing (NLP), artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML) to support innovative solutions in the aerospace domain.
- Collaborate with GE Aerospace Research scientists to design and develop search and recommendation systems aimed at improving engineering team productivity.
- Develop and implement algorithms for processing aerospace domain data to enhance recommendation systems.
- Design experiments, perform rigorous evaluations, and analyze results to validate research findings.
- Document research outcomes through publications, invention disclosures, and internal technical reports.
- Communicate findings, insights, and recommendations effectively to relevant stakeholders.
- Address unique challenges in the aerospace domain, including data quality issues, highly domain-specific vocabulary, and integrating NLP/LLM-based solutions into safety-critical and regulated workflows.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Currently enrolled in a full-time Master’s or PhD program in Computer Science, Electronics, Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, or a related engineering field, with specialization in Natural Language Processing (NLP), Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), or Statistics.
- Minimum of one year of experience conducting independent research, ideally in areas such as Large Language Models (LLMs), entity and relation extraction, or zero/few-shot learning.
- Proficiency in implementing algorithms, building data pipelines, and developing solutions using Python.
- Self-starter with the ability to work effectively in ambiguous environments and excellent communication skills.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Experience in data analytics, optimization, estimation, or detection algorithms.
Preferred Skill:
- Enrolled in a PhD program with at least three years of independent research experience.
- Previous experience in training, fine-tuning (including instruction-tuning), and deploying Large Language Models.
- Demonstrated track record of publications in top AI conferences or co-located workshops.
- Exposure to solving problems and handling datasets from industrial domains such as aviation, energy, healthcare, or manufacturing.
- Strong foundations in the design, analysis, and implementation of algorithms across various computing architectures.
- Experience with computer vision algorithms is an added advantage.
