Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct investigative reviews and analyses to ensure compliance with the company’s BSA/AML regulatory policies and programs.
  • Investigate automated alerts from transaction monitoring systems and referrals from law enforcement requests and other business units.
  • Analyze transaction activity and KYC (Know Your Customer) information, conducting due diligence research to support investigations.
  • Interpret evidence from external tools and systems to assess the legitimacy of customer behavior across multiple products.
  • Document investigation findings in detailed written narratives.
  • Determine whether activities require escalation for further review and recommend whether a Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) should be filed.
  • Incorporate feedback from the quality assurance team to improve investigation processes.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Stay updated on industry standards, regulatory changes, and best practices in KYC, BSA/AML, and OFAC compliance.
  • Review data from monitoring systems, follow client procedures, and document transaction monitoring alerts accordingly.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant experience in AML/Fraud investigations, customer due diligence, SAR preparation, and filing.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines, including BSA, OFAC, and FinCEN guidance.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Proficiency in G Suite, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to adapt to the evolving needs of a high-growth, fast-paced organization.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with cryptocurrency products or working in the digital currency industry.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Transaction Monitoring, KYC, Screening, and Fraud Operations, including:
    • Documentary and non-documentary verification.
    • Assessment of business nature, source of wealth/funds, and customer screening (sanctions, PEP, and adverse media).
  • Ability to conduct in-depth investigations using third-party vendors and open sources to resolve compliance alerts.
  • Proficiency in investigating Adverse/Negative Media and Transaction Surveillance/Monitoring.
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Experience with risk case management systems such as Actimize.
  • Expertise in reviewing transactions to assess utilization and source of funds based on expected activities.
  • Experience in financial crime risk management related to brokerage and virtual currency exchanges.
  • Familiarity with tools such as World Check, Banker’s Almanac, Actimize, RDC, LexisNexis, Dow Jones, and regulatory databases (e.g., SEC Edgar, Form ADV, FINRA, Company House, and other global regulators and company registries).
