Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze telemetry and trace data, with guidance from experienced engineers, to understand software and hardware behavior at both individual device and system-wide levels.
- Investigate system issues using debugging and performance analysis tools to identify root causes and potential solutions.
- Identify optimization opportunities and contribute to the design, development, and implementation of system improvements.
- Develop, test, and maintain code to enhance user experiences across operating system and application layers.
- Deliver reliable, high-quality solutions by following established engineering best practices and incorporating feedback from code and design reviews.
- Leverage data to evaluate solutions, validate performance improvements, and support informed engineering decisions.
- Collaborate with team members and cross-functional partner teams to deliver improvements across the Windows ecosystem.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, with demonstrated programming experience in one or more languages, including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Equivalent practical experience may be considered in place of a formal degree.
Required Skills:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements applicable to the role.
- Must successfully complete the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer and renew the screening every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in software development, debugging, or systems analysis gained through academic coursework, internships, or professional experience.
- Familiarity with debugging techniques and a strong interest in system performance analysis and optimization.
- Understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including software testing, code quality, and maintainability.
- Strong programming, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to learn new technologies, collaborate effectively with team members, and leverage data to support informed decisions.
- Academic coursework, internship, or project experience involving operating systems or system-level software development.
- Familiarity with Windows internals, system performance analysis, or power optimization techniques.
- Understanding of how hardware, firmware, operating systems, and applications interact.
- Exposure to telemetry, data analysis, statistical concepts, or cloud-based data platforms.
- Experience collaborating on team projects and communicating technical concepts clearly and effectively.
