Key Responsibilities:
- Actively contribute as a member of the assigned team by participating in team discussions, decision-making, and technical design processes.
- Develop production-ready software that delivers meaningful value to Stripe’s business and its users.
- Provide and receive technical feedback through code reviews and design discussions.
- Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to proactively seek, share, and incorporate feedback.
- Demonstrate a strong learning mindset by asking thoughtful questions, working effectively with the internship manager and teammates, communicating work progress clearly, and leveraging the latest AI-powered development tools.
Eligibility Criteria:
- A strong foundation in computer science through a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Experience with programming through academic coursework, personal projects, or other practical applications. Familiarity with languages such as Ruby, Java, JavaScript, Go, or Scala is beneficial, with the ability to learn new languages based on strong programming fundamentals.
- Experience working on collaborative projects, previous internships, or open-source contributions that demonstrate the ability to evaluate and incorporate feedback from mentors, peers, and stakeholders.
- Ability to learn unfamiliar systems and develop a thorough understanding of them through independent research, mentorship, and collaboration with subject matter experts.
- Ability to leverage AI tools to accelerate software development while applying critical thinking and professional judgment to review, refine, and validate AI-generated outputs.
Preferred Skills:
- At least one year of university education or equivalent professional experience.
- Specialized knowledge in one or more areas, such as frontend development, backend development, infrastructure, or other technologies, along with a broad understanding of general software engineering principles.
- Experience in creating high-quality pull requests with adequate test coverage and delivering projects with minimal defects.
- Familiarity with navigating and managing tasks across new codebases involving multiple programming languages.
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical work, project progress, and outcomes to stakeholders, team members, and colleagues.
