Role Responsibilities:
- Work as part of a designated sub-team within the Product Engineering Support organization, supporting either z Hardware or z/OS service and serviceability functions for mainframe products.
- Assist in the design, development, and execution of productivity tools and automation aids required for infrastructure and support operations.
- Apply basic programming skills to develop, test, or enhance internal tools and utilities.
- Leverage foundational engineering concepts to support troubleshooting, analysis, and system improvement activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and support teams to understand system requirements and service workflows.
- Gain hands-on exposure to mainframe systems, including their technical complexity and service architecture.
- Develop an understanding of customer expectations and service standards for enterprise-level mainframe solutions.
- Document work performed and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the support organization.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Bachelor’s Degree
Required Technical and Professional Expertise:
- Demonstrated passion for pursuing a career in Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
- Strong foundational education in software design, development, and/or testing methodologies.
- Solid understanding of computer architecture concepts.
- Working knowledge of one or more programming languages, such as C, C++, Java, or Assembly.
- Proficiency in debugging and troubleshooting software and system-level issues.
- Hands-on experience or familiarity with scripting languages, including Python, JavaScript, Perl, or Bash.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience:
- Basic knowledge or exposure to mainframe systems and environments.
- Understanding of computer networking concepts and protocols.
- Familiarity with web and mobile application development principles and technologies.
- Experience using development and collaboration tools such as Git, GitHub, IntelliJ, or similar IDEs and version control systems.
