Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for employees while working remotely from your home office.
- Be available to take ownership of new cases via telephone, email, and web.
- Serve as an internal customer advocate by keeping them updated in a timely manner.
- Ensure that each support case you manage adheres to the Service Level Agreement (SLA), maintaining the highest possible customer satisfaction by setting clear expectations and fulfilling commitments.
- Contribute new knowledge base articles and update existing ones to ensure shared knowledge and lessons learned are accessible to customers.
- Draft and distribute technical notices for both internal and external communications.
- Prioritize tasks effectively to handle the most important and urgent matters first.
- Continuously learn as products and services evolve.
- Understand the Ubuntu development process to set accurate timelines for customer issue resolution.
- Maintain regular communication and information sharing with the team, both locally and remotely.
- Identify and suggest opportunities for improving service delivery.
- Participate in a regular weekend work rotation.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent four-year degree in a technical field from an accredited college or university (Preferred majors: Computer Science, MIS, Electrical Engineering, etc.).
- Experience in Linux troubleshooting, including log collection, stack traces, and configuration file fine-tuning.
- Proficiency in Linux server administration.
- Strong understanding of Cloud computing concepts such as provisioning, monitoring, and orchestration.
- Knowledge or basic hands-on experience in at least two or more of the following areas:
- Virtualization / Cloud environments.
- Containers.
- Storage technologies.
- Networking (e.g., bonding, firewalling, bridging, switching, network file system tuning, MTU issues, etc.).
- Basic programming skills in any language (e.g., Bash, Perl, Ruby, JavaScript, C, C++, Go).
- Ability to quickly learn, adapt to change, and handle the pressure of a customer-facing role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Willingness and ability to travel.
- Successful completion of a background check.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience supporting virtualized environments (e.g., KVM, Virtual Box, VMware).
- Familiarity with other open-source desktop technologies.
- Active contribution to open-source projects, forums, or code development.
